Wytheville Town Council had considered moving Halloween back one day, but Mayor Trent Crewe said town ordinances governing the ages, costumes, masks and curfew for youngsters on Halloween were geared to the specific date and could not be altered.
The Wythe County Board of Supervisors and Rural Retreat Town Council also declined to change the date of Halloween activities, despite requests from several citizens and church groups to do so.
All the counties surrounding Wythe - Pulaski, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth and Bland - had their Halloween activities Saturday.
