FOR THE RECORD

Cox Cable Roanoke subscribers who have HBO with a cable-ready television set or an old converter box must rent a converter for $1.51 and a remote control for 26 cents plus tax and franchise fees to get the second HBO channel free. A story in Monday's edition did not specify that the extra equipment is necessary.

Because incorrect information was supplied to the newspaper, the Kaplan Educational Center's money-back guarantee was misstated in a story about SAT preparation Sunday. Kaplan will return a student's money if he or she attends all of the classes, takes all of the tests and does not see a rise in test scores.

Because of an editor's error, the last line in a story about Anne Rice was dropped from Monday's editions. The last paragraph should have said: "That worked out all right, let's put it that way," she says.

Because of a reporter's error, the Virginia Tech football team's record against non-conference opponents was incorrect in Sunday's editions. The Hokies are 3-0, with a game at Virginia remaining.
