Joe Whitlock of Floyd has been named a "Van Operator of the Month" for August by United Van Lines.

Whitlock, who drives for Lawrence Transportation Systems of Roanoke, was honored for excellent performance in operational proficiency, cargo claims prevention, customer service and safety.
