An indicator of future construction in the Roanoke metropolitan area is up 389 percent from a year ago.
The F.W. Dodge Division of McGraw-Hill Inc. said the value of September contracts for future construction totaled $39.9 million, compared with last year's $8.2 million. Residential construction was $28.5 million and nonresidential $11.4 million.
For the first nine months, the value of construction contracts rose 56 percent, from $80.6 million last year to $126.2 million in 1993. - Staff report
