OBIT GRAYBEAL, HAZEL MYERS

GRAYBEAL, Hazel Myers, 87, of 18 West First Street, Big Stone Gap, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 1993, at Community Hospital, Norton, Va. She was born in Norton, Virginia and grew up in Harlan, Kentucky. She was a graduate of Harlan High School, attended Virginia Intermont College and graduated from Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College. She taught elementary school in Harlan, Ky., Pineville, Ky., and Somerset, Ky., before moving to Big Stone Gap in 1959, where she was employed by the Wise County School System. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Big Stone Gap, where she was an active member of the Kelly Sunday School class and Circle 5. She was also a past member of the Lonesome Pine Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Graybeal, in 1983. Survivors include two sons, Joe Graybeal, San Marco, Calif., David D. Graybeal, Roanoke; three grandchildren; two brothers, Morris Myers, Harlan, Ky., and Gene Myers, Lexington, Ky. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 Thursday morning at the Holding Funeral Home, Big Stone Gap, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Holding Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Warren Wattenbarger and Rev. Ben F. Wheless officiating. Burial will follow in the Glencoe Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Ben Allen, Harold Armsey, J. P. Horton, Don Bunch, Jim Johnsn, Maurice Vanhook Jr. Honary pall bearers will be V. F. Jackson, T. Reid Rankin, Bruce Robinette, Conrad Carter, Dr. B. E. Polly Jr., George Polly, Paul Gillespie, and Dr. Gary Williams. Arrangements by Holding Funeral Home.
