\ Fieldale-Collinsville 63, Chatham 43: At Collinsville, the Cavaliers had a third-quarter breakout and cruised to the Piedmont District victory.
Cicily Becker had 12 of her 20 points in the first quarter for the Cavaliers (9-10 overall, 8-9 in the district). Jion Word had a pair of 3-point goals and finished with 19 points for Chatham (9-8 in the district). \
Craig County 47, Parry McCluer 42: At New Castle, Chrissy Robertson scored 25 points and the Rockets held off the Fighting Blues in the Pioneer District.
Robertson hit 10 of 11 free throws as Craig County (9-9, 6-6) preserved the victory from the line. Bonnie Boardwine added 15 points for the Rockets.
Parry McCluer (5-12, 4-7) got double-figure scoring from four players, but the rest of the Fighting Blues were shut out. Stephanie Rhodes and Carrie Coleman had 11 points each, and Crystal Humphries and Misty Snider added 10 apiece. \
Martinsville 63, Gretna 45: At Martinsville, Erica Brandon scored 23 points and had 11 steals as the Bulldogs whipped the Hawks for a Piedmont District win.
Sam Ferguson chipped in 15 points and 10 assists for Martinsville (15-4, 14-2).
Lashawn Barber scored 18 points and Charita Dews had 15 for Gretna. \
Covington 46, Highland 44: At Covington, the Cougars sank eight of 12 fourth quarter free throws including two by Jeaniene Barber that gave them the lead for good and the Covington went on to the Pioneer District victory.
Bessie Laws and Joann Helton scored 12 each for Covington (7-10 overall, 7-4 in the district). Highland (6-11 overall, 2-9 in the district). \
Franklin 58, Bath County 25: At Franklin, W.Va., Holly Hendricks hit three 3-point shots and Heather Thomas had a game-high 15 points to lead Franklin to a non-district girls' basketball victory Tuesday. Bath County was led by Ricketta Ricketts with 11. \
