``Our school's on fire! Our school's on fire!'' students at Christiansburg Middle School excitedly shouted to passers-by Friday morning.
On one side of the building, students stood as best they could in fire-drill lines, yelling to passing motorists. On the other side, Christiansburg firefighters were making short work of mopping up from a small fire that started in a storage area below the school's library.
``Come up, you want to join our weenie roast?'' a student asked.
The fire was reported at about 8:50 a.m. when the smell of smoke was detected in the library, said Don Bullock, director of secondary education. Students were evacuated for about 45 minutes before returning to school and resuming a normal schedule.
The fire started in a container holding some mops, Fire Chief Jim Epperly said.
The fire is being investigated as suspicious.
``It almost had to have had some help getting started,'' Epperly said.
Bullock said two students were charged with setting the fire. Their names are not being released because they are juveniles. Bullock said disciplinary action will be decided later.
