OBIT-DENNEY, ELBERT MACK

DENNEY, Elbert Mack, 98, of Blue Ridge, Va., and formerly of Dublin, Va., passed away on Thursday, November 4, 1993. He lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Donald Williams, and his grandsons, Jonathan and Corey, who spent time with him and always made him smile. Mr. Denny was born in North Carolina on October 20, 1895. He was in the United States Navy during WWI and served on one of the first submarines ever to be used in the United States. He and his family moved to West Virginia and he was an electrician in the coal mines for 40 years until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Denny, and by one son, Buford Denny. He will be very much missed by his family and friends. Surviving are three daughters, Ruth Pennington, Bland, Cora Ann Wojciechouski, Dublin, Betty Morris, Richmond; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Donald Williams, Blue Ridge, Dorothy and Dick Hayes, Pulaski, Emma Lee and Donald Nimmer, Florida; one son, John Denny of Florida; three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Nellie Denny of Florida, Elbert and Betty Denny Jr., Hayes, Va., Donley and Barbara Denny of Maryland; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, Va., with Pastor Philip Ayers officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Saturday evening at Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Pulaski, Va.
