CRASH KILLS 1, INJURES 4

A 16-year-old boy was killed and four other teen-agers were injured in a car accident on U.S. 220 near Rocky Mount on Friday night.

A car driven by Corey K. Boothe, 16, was headed south when it swerved into the median. The car flipped several times, throwing Boothe and all four passengers from the car, state police said.

Richard B. Myers, 16, of Rocky Mount was taken to Memorial Hospital in Martinsville, where he died at 1 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Boothe is in intensive care at Memorial Hospital with facial fractures, police said.

Subrina Bobbit, 14, is in serious condition at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, S.C., a hospital spokeswoman said.

Donnie Collins, 19, and Jennifer Myers, 14, are in Roanoke Memorial Hospital, both in satisfactory condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The accident occurred one mile south of Virginia 657 at 11:20 p.m., police said. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
