OBIT YOUNG, SAM AUSTIN
YOUNG, Sam Austin, 70, of Roanoke, passed away at his home Saturday,
November 6, 1993. He was a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, where he taught
Sunday School Class for many years. He was a retired employee of AT&T, with 36
years of service. He served in the United States Navy Seabees during World War
II. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Booth Young; one stepson, Corbin E.
Overstreet and wife, Kathy of Roanoke; three stepdaughters, Sherry O. Saunders
and husband, Don E. of Blue Ridge, Deborah O. Cleveland and husband, William
H. of Botetourt County and Patty O. Kaufman and husband, Daniel L. of
Fincastle; nine grandchildren; one sister, Lillian Y. Allen of Florida; six
brothers, Henry, Paul, Roy and Donnie Young, all of Texas, George Young of
Alaska and Denzil Young of New Jersey; a number of nieces, nephews and many
friends. Funeral services will be conducted from Emmanuel Wesleyan Church 1
p.m. Monday, November 8, with the Rev. Aaron J. Rummage, the Rev. James H.
Alsop and the Rev. Orlando Gonzalez officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge
Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Oakey's North Chapel where the family will
receive friends from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
