OBIT GROVES, DENNIS LANIER
GROVES, Dennis Lanier, 55, of 2505 Tanglebrook Road, Midlothian, Va., died
Friday, November 5, 1993, at his residence. He was the husband of Janet
Treynor Groves. Mr. Groves was born in Covington, Va., a son of the late Fred
M. Groves and Odelle Dressler Groves. He was an employee of the Internal
Revenue Service. Mr. Groves was a member of Green Memorial United Methodist
Church in Roanoke, where he served as treasurer, a member of the Church Board,
the Chancelor Choir, and also served as soloist. He was a member of Covington
Lodge 171 AF & AM and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was also a member of the
Elks BPO Lodge. Other than his wife, Mr. Grove is survived by one son, John
Frederick Groves, Tallahassee, Fla.; two daughters, Julia Anne Groves,
Midlothian, Jaclyn Amanda Groves, Midlothian; two stepchildren, Mrs. Gena T.
Rice and Gregory G. Tucker, both of Columbia, S. C.; one brother, Charles
David Groves, Northville, Mich.; two aunts, Mrs. Alma Brolding, Hillsboro,
Ohio and Mrs. Murklaud Turner, Arlington. Funeral services will be conducted
11 a.m. Monday from the Loving Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Charles Hunt and
Rev. Rufus O'Quinn officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the
Loving Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Mrs. Donald Frazier,
1416 Franklin Ave., Covington. The family suggests that memorial tributes take
the form of contributions to the Hospice Program at Johnson Willis Hospital,
1401 Johnston Willis Drive, Richmond, or to the American Cancer Society, C/O
Mrs. Doris Dudding, 1610 Carpenter Drive, Covington, Va. 24426.
