SALEM CRASH KILLS RICHMOND MAN

A single-vehicle accident in the West Salem area early Wednesday claimed the life of a 22-year-old Richmond man, according to Roanoke County police.

Braxton Stinchfield died in Roanoke Memorial Hospital, said Lt. Stephen Turner.

Stinchfield and another passenger, Shane Foust, 23, also of Richmond, were in a pickup truck driven by Gerald Schuder, 37, of Salem when it veered off the westbound lane of Harborwood Road, hit a tree and veered head-on into another tree at 12:35 a.m., Turner said.

Foust was listed in stable condition and Schuder in serious condition late Wednesday, said a nursing supervisor at Roanoke Memorial.
