OBIT BOWERS, ELLEN BURKE

BOWERS, Ellen Burke, 78, of Gainesville, Ga., formerly of Salem, died Tuesday, November 9, 1993 at the home of her daughter. She was a retired school teacher, where she taught elementary school for 31 years. She was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Bowers. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Ellen B. and William B. (Billy) Wittel, of Gainesville, Ga.; two granddaughters, Margaret Laine Wittel, Caroline Burke Wittel. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Salem Presbyterian Church by Dr. O. Leighton Culler. Memorial contributions to be made to the Challenged Child and Friend, Inc., 2380 Murphy Blvd., Gainesville, Ga. 30501. John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem is in charge of arrangements.
