Connery joined HealthTrust in 1987. He will give his perspective on the health-care reform issue being debated nationally, and be available for questions.
The chamber also will recognize people who have made significant contributions to the community during the past year.
The Business Executive of the Year Award will be presented to a leader in economic development and community support. The Chamber Excellence Award will go to a volunteer who has been involved in the chamber's 1993 work program. The Southwest Times Civic Honors Award will go to a volunteer who has made notable contributions to the community.
Chamber President Hugh Huff will outline the chamber's accomplishments for the year and pass the gavel to D. Wade Lephew, incoming president. Lephew will introduce the 1994 officers and board members.
The Nomination Committee Task Force has nominated Lephew, from NationsBank; John A. Hughes of United Cities Gas; Ron Bierman, Volvo-GM Heavy Truck Corp.; Sue Berkley, Berkley Tool; and Dennis Sayer, Eleven West, to fill five vacancies of previous board members who have completed three-year terms.
Additional names can be added by a petition signed by at least 20 chamber members being presented by Nov. 15.
If no petition is filed by then, the slate will be declared as elected.
