OBIT WITT, CHARLES WILLIAM
WITT, Charles William, 76, of Salem, died Thursday, November 11, 1993. He
retired from the VA Hospital in Salem in 1972. His life was dedicated to the
service of the Lord. As a lifelong member of the Salem Church of Christ, he
served as speaker, Elder and teacher. A well-known lay minister among the
Churches of Christ in Virginia, he had served as Minister of the Chestnut
Grove and Crossroads Churches in Craig County. He is survived by his wife,
Genevieve C. Witt; daughters and sons-in-law, Jannette and Jim Bayne, Sylvia
and Perry Bailey, Cynthia and Mike Calaway; nine grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; sisters, Bessie Routt and Virginia Newman; mother-in-law,
Jennie K. Cregger. Memorial services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday,
November 13, at the Salem Church of Christ, with the Ministers Jim Bayne, Jim
Herron and Roy Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial
Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the John M.
Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.
