ELLERY'S BLUES AND MORE OPENS TODAY IN DOWNTOWN PULASKI

Ellery's Blues and More, the downtown restaurant and nightclub that has been more than a year in the planning stages, will open today.

Owner George Penn said the restaurant at 220 N. Washington Ave. would open at noon today and Saturday, and at 1 p.m. Sunday. Lunch and dinner will be available.

Evening shows will start at 9 p.m. tonight and Saturday, and at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Those performance schedules will continue now that Ellery's is open for business, he said.

The performers tonight will be Shalaco, a country music group. Performing Saturday and Sunday will be Power Force band, and Penn said there will be open stage time for other area musicians to take a turn.

He said Ellery's would be open from today on, except for Mondays. ``It's been rough in getting it going,'' he said.

Ellery's opened briefly last year with such performers as Bobby ``Blue'' Bland but had to close down again for more renovations and additional restaurant equipment. Pulaski Town Council approved a $30,000 loan from Urban Development Action Grant funds last summer for the addition of the restaurant to the venture.
