OBIT GOAD, JEWEL SHAON
GOAD, Jewel Shaon, age 74, of Rt. 3, Hardy, died Friday, November 12, 1993,
in a local nursing home. A native of the Scruggs Community of Franklin County,
she was born January 6, 1919, daughter of the late William Thomas and Mary
Dell Perdue Shaon. Mrs. Goad attended Ferrum Training School and was a member
of Burnt Chimney United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Horace
Goad; one son, Maurice D. Goad, Hardy; one brother, William Shaon, Salem.
Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11 a.m. Monday,
with the Rev. Richard McDowell and the Rev. DeRoy Campbell officiating.
Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials
be made to the Burnt Chimney United Methodist Church (P.O. Box 63, Wirtz, Va.,
24184). The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at
Flora Funeral Service (342 S. Main St., Rocky Mount).
