OBIT RATLIFF, JIMMY DARRELL

RATLIFF, Jimmy Darrell, 53, of Smith Mountain Lake, near Roanoke, formerly of Grundy, Va., passed away Friday, November 12, 1993, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late C. E. and Buner Stiltner Ratliff. He was the owner and operator of the Indian Point Marina at Smith Mountain Lake, where he had been a resident for the past 12 years. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Ramey Ratliff of Smith Mountain Lake; three sons, Mark Anthony Ratliff of North Tazewell, Va., Jimmy Edward Ratliff of Hampton, Va., Dirk Allen Ratliff of Smith Mountain Lake, Va.; one brother, Bobby Harold Ratliff of Magie, Va.; one grandchild, Cori Leanne Ratliff of North Tazewell, Va. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 15, 1993 at 2 p.m. in the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Danny Hess and Rev. Chuck Trent officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va. There will be a service at the funeral home Sunday evening at 7 p.m. Friends may call anytime at the funeral home. Active pallbearers, Greg Fletcher, Rocky Justus, Joey Martin, Jeff Justus, Ben Perdue, Duard Garrison, Rex Browning and David McClanahan. Honorary pallbearers, Paul Fletcher, Joe Martin, Rick Johnson, Doug Delong, Donta Villa, Terry Hughes and Ralph (Skip) Ball. Arrangements by Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home of Grundy.
