The smaller kettles will begin appearing soon in neighborhood shopping centers. Money raised from the kettles and from donations sent to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 229, Pulaski 24301, will be used to help the needy this holiday season, as well as to support ongoing programs for disadvantaged people and natural-disaster victims.
This year's goal is $90,000. Ron Chaffin, continuing education director at New River Community College, will be chairman of the 1993 appeal. It is his hope that New River Valley businesses and residents will open their hearts when answering the Salvation Army letters in the mail and the ring of the red kettle bells.
