McGee is a 1944 graduate who served in Henry County and Martinsville schools for 30 years. She received the Outstanding Alumnus Award.

The sculpture also has been selected as the winner of the Friends of the Art at Queens College Outdoor Sculpture Juried Competition and will be displayed on the campus in Charlotte, N.C.
A sculpture, "Lacking Sufficient Height the Ladder Learned to Fly," has been selected by the Watauga County Arts Council Outdoor Sculpture Competition and will be displayed in front of the Jones House Community Center in Boone, N.C.
