PARRY MCCLUER OUSTED 14-7

Chris Bass' 4-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter gave Rural Retreat a 14-7 victory over Parry McCluer in the opening round of the Group A, Region C, Division 1 high school football playoffs Friday night.

Rural Retreat (8-3) plays the winner of the Narrows-Bath County game next week for the regional title.

John Wheeler, who led all rushers with 96 yards, scored in the first quarter on a 6-yard run to give Parry McCluer (9-2) a 7-0 lead. But Bass evened the score in the second when he hit Jason Childers with a touchdown pass from 1-yard out.

The Fighting Blues, who were held to 195 yards of total offense, got to Rural Retreat's 25-yard line in the third quarter, but lost the ball on downs.
