OBIT BOND, CHARLES VANCE
BOND, Charles Vance, 65, of Independence, Va., passed away Friday, November
19, 1993 at the Forsyth Memorial Hospital, Winston-Salem, N.C. Mr. Bond was
born May 29, 1928 at Martinsville, Va. to Charlie Wesley Bond and Emma Dancey
Bond. He was a member of the first United Methodist Church, a U. S. Army
Veteran, having served in the Korean Campaign, a member of Grayson County V.
F. W. Post #7726 and Independence Masonic Lodge #129, A.F. & A.M. He was a
retired rural mail carrier and cattle farmer. He is survived by his wife,
Virginia Reeves bond, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jenny and
Steve Turner, Athens, Ga., Emily and Paul Papadopoulos, Charleston, W. Va.;
one son, Charles Vance Bond Jr., Warner Robins, Ga.; aunt, Nona New,
Independence, Va.; sister-in-law, Louise R. Clark, Marion, Va. Funeral
services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of
Independence, with interment in Reeves Family Cemetery. Rev. Brian Miller
officiating. The body will be moved from Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home to the
church thirty minutes preceding service to lie in state. Memorial
contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Reins-Sturdivant
Funeral Home, Independence, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
