OBIT BLANKENSHIP, ANNIE THOMAS
BLANKENSHIP, Annie Thomas, 97, of Mechanicsburg, died Saturday, November
20, 1993 at Birdmont Health Care Center in Wytheville, Va. She was born July
24, 1896 in Mechanicsburg, Va., the daughter of the late Robert Grice and
Susan Woodyard Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Vaden
Blankenship and a son, Harold Thomas Blankenship, of Mechanicsburg. She was a
lifelong member of the Mechanicsburg Christian Church and an active member and
past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Bland, Va. She is survived by
two sons, Irvin Blankenship of Wytheville, Francis Edwin Blankenship of
Roanoke; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 23,
1993, at the Mechanicsburg Christian Church, with the Rev. E. C. Redmond Jr.,
the Rev. Dr. Michael Wingard and the Rev. Henry Horton officiating. Interment
will follow in the Mechanicsburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends and
relatives at the Newberry Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday evening.
