Dennis Traubert, who has headed the bank's Blue Ridge Region, will be promoted to being in charge of Signet's general retail operations in Hampton Roads, a larger market. Signet's Hampton Roads operations are based in Norfolk.
Retail operations in a bank are those that deal directly with consumers - in contrast to commercial divisions that deal with business customers.
Zeb Holt, head of retail delivery for Signet Bank in Richmond, said Signet's Hampton Roads region covers Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Newport News and Hampton. It has three times the population and about four times the branches as the bank's Blue Ridge Region, based in Roanoke.
Signet said Traubert's successor in Roanoke will be announced later this week.
Holt said the bank is organized into units dealing with small business, private banking and retail business sectors. In the restructuring, each will gain its own marketing and analysis group.
In the Blue Ridge Region, D. Kyle Umberger III will be market manager for retail business. Withers Burress will be market manager for small business.
Holt said the new structure means each operating group will be far more customer-driven.
Signet said changes in personnel and structure related to its overall reorganization probably will take another two weeks to complete.
