MEMORIAL SERVICES SCHEDULED

Oakey Funeral Service will sponsor four memorial services beginning Nov. 27.

The services are being held for those who have lost loved ones in recent years and are open to the public whether or not the family has used the downtown Roanoke funeral home or one of its branches, said Grace Poff, aftercare coordinator for Oakey.

The services begin at 3 p.m. and will be in churches near the neighborhood funeral chapels. The minister of the church will lead the service.

David Peterson, a licensed professional counselor of Baptist affiliation will speak at each, and Dodie Matze, organist, and her daughter, Debbie Williams, a professional Christian singer, will provide music.

The Nov. 27 service will be at Central Church of the Brethren, just west of the downtown Roanoke Oakey chapel. On Nov. 28, a service will be held at Cave Spring United Methodist Church, near Oakey's South Chapel.

On Dec. 11, Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, adjacent to Oakey's North Chapel will be used, and on Dec. 12, Vinton Baptist will serve that community.

Poff said the services complement a new program in which the funeral home staff follows up on families it has served during the difficult months for survivors.
