DURRENCE-DRAPER
Susan Elaine Draper and Gene Merrill Durrence, Jr. were married November
27, 1993, in St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Douglas W. Kanney
officiating. The reception was held at The Farmhouse. The matron of honor was
Susan Durrence Balsavage, sister of the groom. The bridesmaids were Lynn
Draper Rader and Kurdy Draper Biggs, sisters of the bride; March Huttas and
Cathy Wilson, friends of the bride. Flowergirl was Gwendolyn Dawn Rader, niece
of the bride. The best man was Gene Merrill Durrence, father of the groom. The
ushers were David Durrence, brother of the groom; Blair Chalmers, Randall
Simons and Stephen Dowd, friends of the groom. Ringbearer was Andrew Vaughan,
cousin of the bride. The candlelighter was Joseph Rice Rader, nephew of the
bride. The wedding was directed by Jane J.Rivers. The guestbook was attended
by Elizabeth Ann Rivers. The bride's gown was white silk chemise with a
sweetheart neckline and long tapered sleeves. The fitted bodice was of alencon
lace beaded with pearls and sequins. The cathedral train featured bows and was
edged with alencon lace. She carried a bouquet of gardenias, white roses and
stephanotis. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Draper of
Christiansburg. She is a graduate of Christiansburg High school and the
University of North Carolina in Charlotte. She is employed by Motorola in
Schaumburg, Ill. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Merrill Durrence of
Decatur, Ga. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech and Purdue University. He is
employed by Analysts International Corporation. The newlyweds will live in Oak
Park, Ill., after their wedding trip to Ixtapa, Mexico.
