OBIT KNICK, JOHN COLIN

KNICK, John Colin, 67, of Natural Bridge, died Friday, November 26, 1993, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Lexington. Mr. Knick was born July 25, 1926, in Clifton Forge, to the late William F. and Bessie Scott Knick. He was a graduate of Emory and Henry College and University of Virginia. He was a life member of University of Virginia Alumni and life member of Phi Delta Kappa. He was a Mason in Piedmont Lodge #152, A.F. & A.M., Martinsville, Va. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and various other organizations, and a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a former teacher at Central High School, Alleghany County, and served as principal of Axton Elementary School in Henry County and Brownsburg High School in Rockbridge County. He was formerly an administrator of the Canal Zone School and retired from the Panama Canal Company in 1979. While in the Canal Zone, he was troop leader of the Boy Scouts and Tropical Survivor Advisor for Exployer Scouts and was a member of the Balboa Union Church in Canal Zone. Mr. Knick is survived by his wife, Geraldine Warwick Knick of Natural Bridge; three sons, John C. Knick Jr. of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Bob Knick of the home, David S. Knick of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; two daughters, Susie Krimmer Wright Patterson A.F.B. of Ohio, Nancy Soukup of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside on Sunday, November 28, 1993, at 4 p.m. at the Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery, with the Rev. Barton Hellmuth officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, but the family will receive friends at the home at anytime. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
