WORLD AIDS DAY OBSERVED TODAY

Today is World AIDS Day, and the New River Valley AIDS Coalition and Student Health Services at Virginia Tech are planning several activities to promote AIDS awareness in the community.

Businesses will be displaying red ribbons. A quilt will be submitted to the Names project to remember Tech alumni who have died from AIDS. At 12:05 p.m., the university will become silent in remembrance of students, friends and loved ones who also have died from AIDS.

An evening program at McBryde 100 will take place at 7 featuring Steve Shepard of the state health department, followed by a candlelight vigil.
