OBIT GEARHEART, THOMAS FLOYD

GEARHEART, Thomas Floyd, ("Sonny"), 82, of Sumpter, S.C., formerly of Narrows, died Saturday, November 27, 1993, in the Hampton Nursing Center, Sumpter, S.C. He was born in Narrows on June 25, 1911, and was the son of the late Thomas Harrison and Rose Mae Wheeler Gearheart. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Narrows and attended the Alice Drive Baptist Church in Sumpter, S.C. He was a Mason and a member of the Woodmen of the World, a retired building contractor and a former hotel owner, and was associated with Dealers Wholesale in Sumpter, S.C. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Willie Gross Gearheart, Sumpter, S.C.; two daughters, Becky G. Carter, Greenville, S.C., Judy G. Hartfield, Sumpter, S.C.; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Graveside rites will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Narrows, with Rev. Jack E. Musick officiating. Graveside military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #68 of Narrows. The family will receive friends at the First Christian Church in Narrows, Thursday, noon until time of the committal service. Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows will be handling all local arrangements.
