That's what's left after paying taxes on the $100,000 David Eubank won playing the lottery this week.
Eubank, the 47-year-old owner of Dave's Sports Shop, bought the winning ticket at Chuck's Market on Monday morning before that evening's Cash 5 drawing. The couple reported to the Roanoke regional lottery office Wednesday morning to collect their winnings.
Eubank doesn't play the lottery regularly. His wife, Faye, said her husband only buys one lottery ticket at a time on an irregular basis. This week, he let the computer chose the winning numbers of 6-13-16-25-34, she said.
Winning the lottery came at a convenient time, she said. "It's a good time of the year to have [extra money] with Christmas and needy children," she said. "My husband's just opened a sports shop, and we can always spend money there."
"We have two grandchildren, and they have long Christmas lists this year," she added.
