ACTING DEPUTY FINANCE DIRECTOR GETS THE JOB

Jesse A. Hall has been appointed deputy director of finance for Roanoke, succeeding James Grisso, who recently was named finance director.

Hall has worked for the city for 18 years, including 14 years in the Finance Department. Most recently, he has been acting deputy finance director.

"[He] was clearly the most qualified applicant," Grisso said. "He has demonstrated his abilities during the years of service with the city and has the confidence of his staff and other departmental managers."

Hall joined the city in 1975 as an internal auditor and became assistant municipal auditor in 1977. He was appointed administrator of city accounting services in 1979.

Hall is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's in business administration. He is a certified public accountant and a member of several professional organizations.

His appointment is effective Monday.
