RELATIVE ALLEGEDLY GRINDS BOY'S FINGER BECAUSE HE DIDN'T LIKE TATTOO

A tattoo on the finger of a teen-ager angered a relative so much that the man took an electric sander and ground the 14-year-old boy's finger to the bone, Prince William County police said Friday.

Timothy Vicker Shotwell, 37, of Manassas, was charged with malicious wounding in the incident, police spokeswoman Kim Chinn said. Shotwell is being held without bond in the county jail.

The incident happened Nov. 28, but police learned of it late this week, Chinn said.

Osbourne Park High School officials became aware of the injury when the boy asked the school nurse for a bandage. School officials then notified the police.

Authorities have refused to disclose the man's exact relation to the boy. The tattoo depicted the number 93. - Associated Press
