The Oaks Historic Bed & Breakfast Country Inn in Christiansburg has set Dec. 12 for a special evening and overnight stay for couples. The couples, in turn, will make an $85 donation to the Christmas Store.
Guests arriving in the late afternoon will be treated to high tea, and later in the evening, to bedtime refreshments before retiring to one of five handsomely furnished guest rooms.
Nickleby's Restaurant in Radford is extending a special discount for dinner guests who participate in The Oaks special Christmas Store benefit.
With morning comes a three-course candlelight breakfast featuring authentic Victorian recipes.
The inn is decked out in its Christmas finery, with freshly cut, 10-foot evergreens decorated with heirloom and handmade Victorian ornaments and paper-lace ribbons. Garlands, flowers, pine cones and bows adorn the staircase. For a touch of whimsy, nutcrackers, teddy bears, dolls and cherubs silently watch the festivities from vantage points all over the inn.
The Oaks, which has been featured in Country Inns magazine, was recently chosen for the cover photograph on the just released edition of Bed & Breakfast and Unique Inns of Virginia. The inn also has received ratings of three stars by Mobil, three diamonds by the American Automobile Association and four crowns by the American Bed & Breakfast Association.
The check for $85 for the stay should be made out directly to the Christmas Store.
