The extra patrols and sobriety checkpoints were concentrated in Montgomery County, according to Sgt. Bob Martin of the state police.
Authorities will be selecting other areas for beefed-up enforcement between now and the end of the year, Martin said.

State police assigned seven extra troopers and a supervisor to work a 10-hour shift in Montgomery County. Most of the people charged with DUI were arrested by officers on patrol, Martin said.
