POLICE PATROLS IN MONTGOMERY YIELD 10 DRUNK-DRIVING ARRESTS

State police arrested 10 people Friday night as part of a holiday crackdown on drunken drivers.

The extra patrols and sobriety checkpoints were concentrated in Montgomery County, according to Sgt. Bob Martin of the state police.

Authorities will be selecting other areas for beefed-up enforcement between now and the end of the year, Martin said.

"We know there are going to be more drunk drivers this time of the year," he said.

State police assigned seven extra troopers and a supervisor to work a 10-hour shift in Montgomery County. Most of the people charged with DUI were arrested by officers on patrol, Martin said.
