OBIT HICKMAN, JAMES ALBERT
HICKMAN, James Albert, ("Jimmy"), 83, of Lexington, died Friday, December
3, 1993 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born April 16, 1910 in Rockbridge
County, Va., he was the son of the late James Albert Hickman Sr. and Martha
Jane Withrow Hickman. Mr. Hickman was a member of Lauderdale A.R.P. Church,
and was a former member of the Lexington Fire Dept. and Lexington Moose Lodge
#1700. He was a retired electrician with Shenandoah Electric Company.
Surviving are his wife, Emma Goldsby Hickman, Lexington, Va.; three daughters,
Mrs. Jane H. Souers, Johnson City, Tenn., Mrs. Martha H. Boswell, Roanoke,
Mrs. Becky H. Grow, Harrisonburg; one sister, Beatrice H. Agnor, Stuarts
Draft; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will
be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Lauderdale A.R.P. Church,
with Rev. Zeb Carson Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Timber Ridge
A.R.P. Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to
Lexington First Aid, Lauderdale A.R.P. Church, or the American Heart Fund, AHA
Rockbridge Unit, C/O Alice Correll, 109 Paxton St., Lexington, Va. 24450. The
family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Harrison Funeral Home.
