OBIT FRENCH, SIDNEY IRVIN SR.

FRENCH, Sidney Irvin Sr., 76, of 401 Lincoln Ave., Marion, Va. formerly of Richlands, Va. died Saturday, December 4, 1993, at his home following an illness of several months. He was born in Richlands, Va. and was a son of the late Gus and Carrie Mallory French, both Tazewell County natives. He had made his home in the Richlands area most of his life before moving to Marion twenty years ago. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of the Barnes-Beavers VFW Post No. 7136 of Tazewell, Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Estelle Barnett French. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Carrie "Pinkie" French Sparks of Marion, Va.; one son, Mr. Sidney Irvin French, Jr. of Marion, Va.; four sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Sharrone of Richlands, Va., Mrs. Dollie Clousher of Richlands, Va., Mrs. Lila Altizer of Belfast, Va., Mrs. Ina Sprecher of Hagerstown, Md.; three grandchildren, Jared Sparks, Vicki Hall, and Gus French all of Marion, Va. also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Sidney Irvin French Sr. will be conducted Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Carl Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Grandson and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Barnes-Beavers VFW Post No. 7136 of Tazewell, Va. will conduct military graveside rites. The body is at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands where friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands is in charge of arrangements.
