OBIT BOWER, EUGENE CHARLES
BOWER, Eugene Charles, 76, of Roanoke, died Sunday, December 5, 1993, at
his home. He worked as a coal miner from the late 1930's until 1955, when he
moved to Roanoke. He then worked as a carpenter until retirement. He was born
on May 8, 1917, in Eckman, W.Va., the son of the late Andrew Taylor and Daisy
Marion (Wyrick) Bower. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence,
Claude, Beverly and Ralph Bower; one sister, Ethel Duval. He is survived by
his ex-wife and devoted friend, Oma Gertrude Bower; a son and daughter-in-law,
Robert E. and Sandra Bower, Roanoke; two daughters, Brenda M. Brugh, Roanoke,
Patricia A. Crouch and companion, Rocky Swisher, Harrisonburg; grandchildren,
Darrell Bowles and wife, Karyna Heffernan, Brooklyn, N.Y., Edward L. Powers
Jr., Richmond, Kathleen Snellings and husband, Dwayne, Yvette Beheler and
husband, Steve; three sisters, Lillian Willoughby, Edith Whitenack, both of
Princeton, W.Va., Doris Shupe, Bluefield, W.Va. Services will be at Lotz
Roanoke Chapel, noon Wednesday, with the Rev. Raymond Powers Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem. The family will
receive friends at Lotz Roanoke Chapel, 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be
made to the American Cancer Society.
