OBIT NEWMAN, ALLENE CHITTUM

NEWMAN, Allene Chittum, 89, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, December 3, 1993. She was the widow of C.R. Newman, former owner of Newman's Five & Ten Cent Store on Williamson Road and was a retired sales lady from Sidney's Crossroads Store. She is survived by two sons, Robert B. Newman, Williamsburg, Jack H. Newman, Richmond; daughter, Mrs. William J. (Frances) Stevens, Hollins; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ernestine C. Hotinger, Lexington. Funeral services will be from Oakey's North Chapel 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 6, with the Rev. David A. Kirk officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park. Friends may call Oakey's North Chapel, where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
