APPLAUSE

The Kiwanis Club of Christiansburg has donated $500 to Straight Street of New River Valley, a youth club located near downtown Christiansburg.

The club also made a $200-per-month commitment for 1994 to help with the club's expenses beginning in January.

Straight Street offers local youths a place to go on weekends with organized activities and adult supervision. Planned activities include concerts, New Year's lock-ins and other events.

The Kiwanis Club challenged other civic organizations to match their contribution to Straight Street.
