Sixty to 80 members of a fourth- and fifth-grade choir from elementary schools throughout Pulaski County will make their visit at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Marlis Ryssel-Flynn, president of the Pulaski Business Alliance, announced the planned visit to downtown merchants attending a meeting of the organization Tuesday morning at the Renaissance Restaurant.
She said another group, including students from Pulaski Middle School, will be visiting Pulaski's revived downtown business section at 2 p.m. Dec. 18.
Proceeds from Sunday's fashion show in the New River Valley Fine Arts Center annex and from Main Street Gallery raffling off a print by artist P. Buckley Moss have given the Alliance a balance of about $1,000 for its activities.
Looking beyond the holiday shopping season, Alliance members began planning for a Valentine's Day promotion with chances being sold on a Valentine shopping spree in downtown Pulaski.
In other business, the Alliance named Paul Etzel, its vice president, to head its membership committee; Anne Wallace, promotions, and Robin Poteet, advertising.
Poteet represented an advertising agency based in Dublin. Although the Alliance was started several months ago by merchants in downtown Pulaski, its members want to expand to include businesses in the entire town and even the county.
The next Alliance meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. next Tuesday at the Renaissance.
