TECH'S PYNE, BEAMER GET SID HONORS

Virginia Tech center Jim Pyne was named the state's Division I football player of the year and the Hokies' Frank Beamer was selected coach of the year by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.

Junior quarterback Maurice DeShazo joined Pyne as one of seven Tech players on the team. Virginia had the most representatives, with nine.
