OBIT WOODYARD, ERNEST YANCY

WOODYARD, Ernest Yancy, 81, of 516 Maple St., Dublin, died Monday morning December 6, 1993, at his home. He was born in Giles County on July 9, 1912, and was the son of the late Hoage and Susan Woodyard. He was a member of the Dublin United Methodist Church, a member of the Henry Clay Lodge #280, AF&AM and AM of Dublin, a member of the New River Shrine Club, and the Williamsburg Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Kazim Characters, and a member of the Mill Wright Union/ Richmond Local. Mr. Woodyard was preceded in death by his wife, Maleta Anderson Woodyard. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ernestine Dalton, Wytheville, Mrs. Susan Shelton, Dublin; one brother, Wallace Woodyard, Pulaski; three grandchildren, Molly Countiss, Fairlawn, Tim Shelton, Petersburg, Mark Dalton, Max Meadows; one great-grandchild, Angela Handy. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Patterson and the Rev. Frank Bauman officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Wednesday evening at Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Stevens Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Kazim Temple Children's Hospital (Transportation Fund), 628 West Campbell Ave., Roanoke, Va. 24016.
