OBIT WOODS, WILLIAM CURTIS
WOODS, William Curtis, 65, of Route 3, Rocky Mount, died Tuesday, December
7, 1993 at his home. He was born in Rocky Mount, December 4, 1928 son of the
late Roy Benjamin Woods and Callie Stone Woods. He was retired after 29 years
as a teacher with the Franklin County School System. He also did a stint with
the U.S. Navy. During his military career he received a Bronze Star, Silver
Star and a Purple Heart. He was a member of Morningside Missionary Baptist
Church. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Steven C. and Deborah
Woods of Aiken, S.C.; one grandson, Matthew C. Woods of Aiken, S.C.; two
sisters, Lois Holland of Martinsville, Shirley Joe of Hampton; five brothers,
John (Eleanor) Woods of Rocky Mount, Alvin (Barbara) Woods of Pensacola, Fla.,
Melvin (Ethel) Woods of Williamsburg, Clarence (Christi) Woods of Hampton and
Gene Woods of Martinsville; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be
conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 11 at Morningside Missionary Baptist
Church, Rocky Mount. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Park. The family will
receive friends at the church Friday, December 10 7 to 8 p.m. The family
suggest memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are
being handled by Stanfield Mortuary Service.
