More than 1,000 people attended Wednesday night's meeting, held on the first night of Hanukkah, to show community support against last week's spraying of anti-Semitic graffiti outside the Fairfax County building.
A half-hour into the service, Jeff Karatz, executive director of the center, announced that the center had received a bomb threat.
The group left the center and continued the gathering on a hillside.
Last week's graffiti caught the attention of President Clinton, who sent a letter calling the vandalism "`an affront to all Americans."
