Ann Jabbour says, "It's hard to reach them all" but at least she can be certain that when she contributes to the Good Neighbors fund, she is reaching someone.
Many people give to the fund in memory of those who were known for charitable work, while others donate as a gift to friends and family. But everyone who contributes seems to have one thought in common: It is necessary to give to those who are needy.
When asked why they make donations, their answers are simple. Wilson Morris, who has contributed in the past, replied, "Well, it's just a good cause. . . . Everybody needs some help sometime."
Checks should be made payable to Good Neighbors Fund and mailed to Roanoke Times & World-News, P.O. Box 1951, Roanoke 24008.
Names - but not the amounts of donations - of contributing businesses, individuals or organizations, as well as memorial and honorific designations, will be listed. Those requesting that their names not be used will remain anonymous. If no preference is stated, the donor's name will be listed.
Gifts cannot be earmarked for any particular individual or family. Gifts are tax-deductible.
