OBIT MARCHANT, CARRIE MAE DEAN
MARCHANT, Carrie Mae Dean, 81, Marion, died Wednesday, December 1, 1993, in
Smyth County Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband,
John E. Marchant Jr., her son, Edward Gerald ("Jerry") Marchant. She was a
member of Falling Water Baptist Church and was a lifelong member of Smythe
county. She is survived by three sons, Charles ("C.L.") Marchant, Staunton,
Joe Lynn Marchant, Marion, Johnny E. Marchant III, Lewisburg, W.Va.; two
daughters, Mrs. Billy O. (Norma) Hart, Mrs. Robert L. (Shelby) Powell, Sr.,
both of Marion; three brothers, Clinton Dean, Claude Dean, the Rev. William
Dean, all of Marion; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Winebarger, Orlando, Fla., Mrs.
Roy (Virginia) Crowder, Madison, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; 4
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 11, at 2
p.m. in the Falling Water Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ken Martin and the
Rev. Alvin Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery. Flowers
will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Falling Water Baptist Church,
Rt. 1, Marion, Va. or to the Marion Life Saving Crew, Park St., Marion, Va.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Barnett's Marion
Funeral Home.
