OBIT ELLETT, FRANK C.

ELLETT, Frank C., 98, of Sanford, Fla., died Monday, December 6, 1993, in Sanford, Fla. He was born in Pocahontas, Va., the son of the late Ernest J. and Louise Weisiger Ellett. He was a graduate of the University of Richmond, served in the U.S. Army Air Corp World War I and was a merchant in the family firm of Ellett Store. He was a former mayor of Pocahontas. He was a member of the Pocahontas Baptist Church, serving as treasurer for over 60 years. He was a charter member of the American Legion Post #14, Pocahontas, Va.; a member of the Pocahontas Lodge #240 A.F. & A.M. for over 70 years; the Pocahontas Lyons Club; served as vice-president and director of the Southwest Virginia National Bank; and was a member of the Board of Trustees of Bluefield College. The family moved to Roanoke in 1982, residing there until they moved to Sanford, Fla., in 1988. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen B. Ellett; four brothers and two sisters. Surviving are two daughters, Mary E. Dunn, Pittsburgh, Pa., Dorothy Head, Sanford, Fla.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur T. Ellett, Roanoke, Julian D. Ellett, Wilmington, Del.; three sisters, Pearl Crowgey, Roanoke, Mary Herrnstein, Chillicothe, Ohio, Helen Horne, Martinsville. Funeral services will be conducted at the Pocahontas Baptist Church, Pocahontas, Va., Saturday, December 11, 2 p.m., with the Rev. William Davis and Dr. Chevis Horne officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery, Bluewell, W.Va. Graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #14, Pocahontas. Friends may call at the church Saturday from 12:30 until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Frank and Kathleen B. Ellett Scholarship Fund at Bluefield College, Bluefield, Va. Rodriguec-Pocahontas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
