OBIT-COX, J. GILBERT

COX, J. Gilbert, 90, of Our Lady of the Valley Retirement Home, Roanoke, died Friday, December 10, 1993, in a local hospital. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he was a son of the late Robert M. and Elizabeth McMahon Cox. He was preceded in death by two brothers, J. Kenneth Cox and Robert M. Cox Jr. Mr. Cox was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and the United Commercial Travelers. He was retired owner of Eastern Motor Express and was active in the Soil Conservation Movement in Virginia and the United States. Mr. Cox served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Surviving are his wife, Claudine Voit Cox; brother, George P. Cox, Roanoke; a number of nieces and nephews. A liturgical prayer service will be conducted 7 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. Funeral mass will be conducted at 11:15 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, by the Rev. Father Joseph Metzger. Entombment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.
