OBIT-BURKETT, MADELEINE COMBE

BURKETT, Madeleine Combe, of 49 Club Course Drive, Hilton Head Island, S.C., died Thursday, December 9, 1993, at the Fraser Health Center, Hilton Head Island, S.C. She was a native of France and the daughter of the late Constance and Josephine Gorgy Combe. She moved to Hilton Head Island in 1979 from Asheboro, N.C. She was educated at the University of Grenoble, with further studies in Social Work in the United States. She was an executive of the Travelers Aid Society in Schenectady, New York. She was a member of the Mohawk Club in Schenectady, the Roanoke Country Club, a lifetime member of Roanoke Valley Garden Club of Roanoke, Va., the American Womens Club of Paris, France, the Sea Pines Country Club and St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Burkett is survived by her husband, Robert E. Burkett. A private memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Hilton Head Island, S.C. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. The Island Funeral Home of Hilton Head Island, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.
