WHAT JESUS SAID - AND DIDN'T SAY

Things Jesus probably never said, according to biblical scholars in the Jesus Seminar:

"I am the way, and I am truth, and I am life. No one gets to the Father unless it is through me." (John 14:6)

"There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous persons who need no repentance." (Luke 15:7)

"You are to go and make followers of all peoples. You are to baptize in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19)

"I am the bread of life. Anyone who comes to me will never be hungry again." (John 6:35)

"Those who want to follow me should deny themselves, pick up their crosses, and follow me." (Mark 8:34)

Things Jesus almost certainly said, according to the Jesus Seminar:

"Love your enemies." (Luke 6:27)

"When someone slaps you on the right cheek, turn the other as well." (Matthew 5:39)

"Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God." (Luke 6:20)

"Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." (Mark 12:17)

"Don't fret about life . . . Consider the lilies, how they grow: They neither toil nor spin." (Luke: 12:22,27)
